Now lets see the Environmenal Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act brought into action against the Victorian Government.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17418836347616683193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919999228754406096.post-50580052966128261802011-02-26T14:44:33.220+11:002011-02-26T14:44:33.220+11:00Just because some families have been allowed to gr...Just because some families have been allowed to graze cattle in our Alpine National Park since the 1860's doesn't make it right. To me it only means that we have been allowing the wrong thing to happen for a very long time. A "family tradition" is not always the right traditon. Please let me know when cows became a native Australian animal. Leave the grasses for our native animals. Thanks Kelvin for raising this very important issue.only-one-earthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16741543942452853395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919999228754406096.post-26286939705498069882011-01-24T18:11:11.422+11:002011-01-24T18:11:11.422+11:00I remember walking on the Bogong High Plains some ...I remember walking on the Bogong High Plains some years ago when cattle were in there. What a mess in an otherwise beautiful area. This was in the vicinity of the Fainters and the Bogong Saddle.
It seems that the Victorian government are still trapped in the 19th century and want to relive the days of The Man From Snowy River.
The irony is that NSW,the source of the Snowy, banned cattle from the high country many years ago.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919999228754406096.post-14893923804198345552011-01-24T13:38:15.102+11:002011-01-24T13:38:15.102+11:00A facetious comment - can we send senior DSE staff...A facetious comment - can we send senior DSE staff to the Japanese Whale research institute to learn how to run such projects? No farming is allowed, or commercial activities. Why, then were cattle allowed in the first place? The research is conclusive, CSIRO etc, that cattle do not reduce bushfire risks. This "research" is about allowing commercial activities under the banner of "science", just like Japan kills whales in a whale sanctuary. Junk science is being allowed to proliferate due to government bullying and Environment Ministers without real environmental credentials or experience. Cattle are heavy-footed introduced species and are destructive to sensitive ecologies. Feral animals should go too.Bandicoothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11891485026775282801noreply@blogger.com
